I am running windows XP with service pack 3 on an 8 year old pc. In the add remove programs there are multiple titles with different rev numbers like J25E runtime enviorment 5.0 with updates 6,9,10 and 11. Can I delete 6,9 and 10 and just keep 11. Same with Java (TM6) updates 2,3,5 and 7. Can I remove 2,3 and 5 and just leave update 7? These are all rather large programs. The Javas are 114 megs each and the J25E are around 120 megs.

It may break them if you remove them. If it does you should safely be able to remove them all, then install the latest one.

I currently have:

J3SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 11
Java(TM) 6 Update 3
Java(TM) 6 Update 5
Java(TM) 6 Update 7
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment 6
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment 6 Update 1

On my system, I would not be afraid to remove all of it and just wait until something tells me I need it. All my stuff that uses Java is working so I think I'll just leave it be.

What size hard drive? 115 meg is actually very small by todays standard. It would fit on an floppy disc.

I would just leave them in place.
