I just replaced the fugly 1DIN car stereo + plastic hole cover in the boat (see "before" below) with a nice 2-DIN marine stereo and oak trim piece (see After1 and 2). My next step is to run a Clarion MW1 remote from the helm down to the unit, but I'd like to remove the OEM radio remote first. Issue being, I can't for the life of me figure out how this thing comes out (see picture 4) . any one familiar with this type / have any ideas? I've felt around the back and can't find any clips or screws, and prying doesn't seem to be too effective.

Re: Removing Radio Remote

Most likely it has little plastic spring loaded tabs that lock in place to the edge of the hole. If you can't get behind it to push those tabs in, its going to get ugly... You most likely will have to break them to get them out.

In reality, that OEM radio is pretty much worthless, just go nuts on it! Take a big drillbit to the center of it!

On that remote, maybe try to peel up the cover. There might be some mounting screws or something like that, under there. Goodluck!
