removing screw plug in head for water pressure gauge

have read all related posts.seems plug will loosen 1/4 turn then gets tight i have worked it back and forth but do not want to snap it off motor is 2002 C40 yamaha was fresh h20 only, any alternatives other than BFH running hyd jackplate need to have pressure gauge.

Mine was doing the same thing yesterday. I stayed with it slow and it finally came off. Go slow it will get hot.

Don't understand reply boatwad how does screw plug get hot when loosening by turning wrench.Its not a tapered thread, motor is fairly new wondering if factory puts locktite when assembling ?

I know what you mean with the tight screw. People usually have the same problem on the oil plug in the foot, as well as other parts below the water line. Although yours is above the waterline (maybe), it doesn't change the fact that things seize up. Go down to the local auto parts store and get a hand-held impact wrench. Its not pnuematic, you put it to the screw/bolt and hit it with a hammer. This will free it up 99% of the time without breaking anything or stripping the head. You could buy a high-end tool that may run a few hundred dollars, or just go buy a cheap one that will work about the same. Even then, you're looking to spend about $40-50, but hey, whats a little money to get a new, neat tool?
