Removing spark plug wire from coil.

Hi, 1988, 90hp, 3 cyl. I want to swap out wire first, then coil. Looks like #2 is not firing. Does wire just pull out, or unscrew like the old days. Getting 220 volts to all 3 coil from switchbox at idle.

On the picture or your motor's parts, they look to push into the coils. On my '93 Merc 135HPV6, they do push in....

But do they just pull out? It don't seem like it, I've tried.

Why not buy a new wire and see what the end looks like? It has a "tang" to assure contact. That could be holding it into the coil.

New wires are in the mail. Old wires are 34 seasons old.
