I run webroot spy sweeper on my computer and today it told me that some ist service was in my memory. When I clicked on remove it popped back up. It then informed me that I should use explore to delete it, which I did. When I started my computer back up there it was again.
So how do I get rid of it?

Re: removing spyware

Try the new remover that microsoft has. I had several things on my computer that several different removers wouldn't touch. The microsoft program got rid of them all...and it's FREE! :D

Re: removing spyware

running spybot, adaware, spyware blaster, and microsoft together won't get rid of many of the spyware threats out there.

if you really want to clean up your system, go to www.bleepingcomputer.com. check out the highjackthis forum. download program, run, and post log at the forum, and wait. an expert will tell you everything you need to do. these guys are proven and awesome, trust me.

mattttt25... Glad you were happy with bleeping computers because I sure wasn't. Maby it depends upon the problem but I came back to our iboats experts and my own computer guy to fix my problem. Wouldn't give you five cents for the bleeping computers site. Major geeks also out does them..Just my two cents worth.

Re: removing spyware

sorry you didn't have a good experience. what went wrong? i got a nasty infection about 2 months ago- it laughed at norton, avg, spybot, adaware, you name it.

posted at the hjt forum. took a few days, but an expert answered. he spent 2 weeks with me, talking me through every step. we had to try various methods to kill this thing. i finally killed it. he then gave me some suggestions to keep my system clean. adaware and spybot don't even find anything anymore. ever since their help, it's like my computer is fresh out of the box.

Re: removing spyware

mattttt25..Good to hear your experience was good with the "bleeping guys" and your computer is running good for you. My problem was a time executable one and I really felt like I was talking to another computer rather than a real person. Answears didn't make sence. But that's how these computers sites are. Sometimes you can get a real good person helping you and other times it's a rookie that doesn't know a thing. Same as your own ISP(tech support). When you have trouble with them you can also have bad experience with someone that's new. My ISP I can request a certain person and deal with them which makes it so much easer to fix problems as they have dealt with you before. But it sure is good that these places are out there to use as most of them are all volenteers and they do try and help so I am not really complaining. Just Venting a bit( bad day ) I guess! :D :p

Re: removing spyware

Gaztwo....I know this thread kind of got away from your subject but did my question to you about your ist service(just under your post) be one of the same? I still have the site to get rid of it if it's the same one you have. What are you running at your end?

Re: removing spyware

When my computer starts up spy sweeper comes up with a box that shows what it has found. One of them says istsvc.exe, nothing more. When I click on more details it gives me the location of this program. When I use explore and remove the program it comes back, I think it never gets removed. Last night I tried spy bot still no luck.

Re: removing spyware

Hi Gaztwo..Not the same one I have a cure for but I Googled istsvc.exe and it says: istsvc.exe is an advertising program by Integrated Search Technologies. This process monitors your browsing habits and distrubutes the data back to the author's servers for analyses. This also prompts advertising popups. This program is a registered security risk and should be removed immediately. There are other sites when you www.google.com but they all say basically the same thing. Have you tried to go to your Search, and in your all files and folders type in istsvc.exe and see if it finds it in a file or folder? If it does, you can delete it and it should solve your problem as long as you have not downloaded any programs that may run istsvc.exe or anything else that may look like istsvc????? that could be a legitimate file, folder. download etc. Even if you remove it, keep it in your deleted file and if your computer runs normal for a couple of days you can get rid of it but if your computer acts up, you can restore the deleted file. Good Luck!
