Pretty straightforward. 10 bolts around the perimeter, wires in the way need to be moved or removed, a bit of gentle prying is likley to be needed. Be careful with the thermostat housing where the hose is connected on the bottom, remove the hose from the head.

a question many probably ask is it worth it.? its a good motor and im a novice. but have good skills when doing things like this. rebuilt a vw engine for racing 225 hp ending dyno test. never a boat have i attempted. wires and rectifiers and stators all that is alittle deturant as to what i think i can and may be able to do. definatly getting a manual. sometimes those are not alot of help unless your a rocket sientist. i need a good manual any suggesion there??

It is definitely worth it! I rebuilt the 1984 90hp on my Starcraft and have close to 10 hours on it so far. Your motor is essentially the same as mine and there aren't any real surprises to worry about. The OEM manual is a must! Doing most of the work myself I only invested about $500 into the motor. Paying someone else to do it would have run me close to $2000. I can buy a lot of gas for $1500!!
