I want to remove the snaps on my bayliner capri. What is the best way to go about filling the holes left behind. I am not wanting to repaint the entire boat. YET. I will be replacing the floor next winter and maybe paint the year after but for now I just want to clean things up.

Filling the holes will be interesting. The tricky part will be to get the top coat (i.e. gelcoat ) to blend in with the existing surface. You could fill the holes with a base of resin mixed with filler compound and then top it off with gelcoat. Or, you could just use gelcoat for the entire job. I would try a couple of the holes the see how things go before you take all of the snaps out.

Also, I would not paint fiberglass, unless it is with Awlgrip or something like that.

Ayuh,... Fillin' the holes is done with peanut butter resins, aka; fairing compound...

No way yer gonna do it, 'n Hide the repairs, unless ya paint it...

Just casually wondering why you don't leave the snaps in place.

I just want to give it a cleaner look with out the snaps. Maybe I will leave them be till I am ready to paint (gelcoat).
