Hello all and thanks in advance for any advice you may have. I have a 1976 evinrude 115 HP 4 cylinder 2 stroke motor on my pontoon boat. I need to remove the throttle cable to be able to redeck my boat. My question is how do I remove the throttle cables from the the throttle control box? Would removing the cables at the motor be a better idea? I have removed both front and back set screws from the cable ends but the cables will not pull out.
Thanks again. Gary

If you have loosened or removed all 4 set screws 2 from each cable end the cables will come out. Some times the core wire will get kinked bad enough to make removal difficult.

Yes ihave removed all four set screws. Am i correct in my thinking that pulling on the brass rod the slides inside the plastic cable end will release the cable? Or do i need ro unscrew the brass rod from the cable itself then just pull the cable out leaving the braass rod attached?
I do not want to break anything. Any tricks to getting it to come out?
