Removing water pump housing problem 1983 7.5 chrysler

So I’m doing an impeller change on an 83 Chrysler sea king 7.5 and I can’t figure out how to get the water pump housing off because it surrounds the shifting rod which starts to curve so I can’t pull the housing straight off. I am wondering what I have to do in order to get the housing off, I have provided a picture to show what I’m talking about.

The driveshaft should pull out.
The impeller's held in place by a pin, remove that and pull the shaft up and out. Hope you read the other post first
