As some of you might have seen from my other posts it looks like the deal on a 2000 240 Sundancer is going to come through. the only problem I have is how to get it to Long Island from Peekskill -on the Hudson. I really dont want to take the long boat ride ( a little nervous for that dont know about the ocean coming around brooklyn). I would like to save 500-600 bucks on a haul. does anyone know where I can rent a trailer-- that would be the easiest!!!

Thanks
COOL IT

Re: Rent a trailer

Nice boat, for sure. I assume it's in excellent condition. Why not find a nice calm day and drive it to its new home?

OTOH, check the Yellow Pages. You can probably find a boat hauling service and have them retrieve the boat and haul it to your marina. I doubt you're going to find a trailer to rent for that size boat, and then there's the risk of loading and launching, plus a tow vehicle capable of handling the load.

If it were me, I'd run the boat to its new marina on the water. Nice long shakedown.

cool

i trailer on and off long island and the roads are in pretty bad shape right now both the cross bronx I87 and I95 north are a mess

giant pot holes lots of one lane and no end in site

finding fuel if you run the boat takes a LOT of planing

the boat hauler is not going to cost a lot more than doing it your self buy the time you rent a trailer that big and spend the time to get the tongue weight right

tommays

One optioon might be to see if you can find a used trailer at a good price, make the trip, spruce up the trailer and hopefully sell it at a profit.

i second the idea of just buying a used trailer. may spend a little more than 600 bucks, but then you have it. make the trip and then use the trailer in the offseason for storage. will pay for itself when you see the costs for blocking and storing.
