REO 1916 touring car is almost done after 18 months of fabricating parts and building a hardtop from scratch. We found a 1936 Chevy truck last month that was stored for last 25 yrs in a shed. Cleanup, running, and ready for restoration.

Looking forward to seeing the Chevy truck. An older Chevy truck like that is on my "to do" list someday. Just can't figure out what year to do.

Needs brake system, rewired, engine regasketting, all new window seals, new heater core, etc......

We just cleaned, new fuel lines, fuel pump, battery cables, and points. Everything leaks. Should be done by winter if we can find or make everything by then. I think it was our best find so far. We did a '27 Packard sedan and the 1916 REO over the last three years. The Chevy should be relatively easy. My buddy is in love with this truck and may keep this one.

I am thinking of a later model truck than that. Maybe early 50s.

This is a very popular truck to chop and rod. We're hoping to make it all original and keep it from a streetrodder's evil hands.

Original is the only way to go for me. Generally walk straight past the chopped and tweaked stuff then spend time looking at the "restored to original" vehicles.

+2 on that. I've never fully understood taking a good solid vehicle and chopping it up. If you're going to do that they should at least start with a complete POS.

Chopped, channeled, sectioned, I love street rods. Not that I don't like a good looking original. Nice find tho Angus.

bruce - I think the '49/'50 chev trucks are very popular. I've been tossing around the idea of a '55 - '57......

I love street rods but, we're not all evil. I did refrain from cutting up a nice '80 2 door malibu I found. Found it a nice home with a guy who wanted to keep it orig. I just couldn't bring myself to cut the speckled paint in the trunk up for a fuel cell.
I will never forget the day my dad sold a '32 Ford rod for a 1960 totally stock corvette. he wouldn't put on pipes, tires, rims,....nothing. Man I hated that car and have hated the stockers ever since. LOL the '32 was so cool, side pipes, loud as heII, fat and skinny's, chrome everywhere..oh yeah. every time we drove it somewhere the "man" was eyeing us up. as a young teen I was so pumped about that car.
I do look at the stockers now days but usually I see the potential car it could be. LOL I always appreciate the work that goes into them though. Takes a lot more skill to get one back to original then it does to rod them.

Sweet, sweet. Yeah keep it original, doing otherwise should be a crime. I remember those old Chevies well....216 ci engines, non-pressurized lube system rods were splash lubricated and VERY reliable!

Pictures? C'mon man, don't tease ...
That's a sad story about my friend who took all of the pictures of the Packard when we finished and stored them on his digital camera, promising to download them to his computer and send them to me. Then his wife and sister go on a cruise, and delete all of the pics on his camera to make room for their shots of buffet tables and 6000 sunset pics. Yes I'm still mad. I may have some of when we first dragged it home from New Jersey. I'll look.

Bummer - Packard had some neat cars. And they really ran the range from sleek and stylish to some of 'em so looney that they made sense of the Edsel.
