During the past several years, Dallas State Rep. Terri Hodge has solicited and accepted campaign contributions from the families of violent Texas prison inmates, then applied the influence of her state office to obtain sentence-shaving results and other coveted benefits from the prison and parole bureaucracies, a CBS 11 News investigation has found.

CBS Channel 11 news

I reckon that story might just make her some opposition next run.

So far she has been unopposed the last four times. This is the same woman that accepted the free rent to the tune of $33,000. With that kind of money floating around I might have to make some of the haters right and run for office. Lookout Jtexas, I'm moving your way!

As long as J can make it all fit in my tax paperwork I'm cool with it. I'm sure that we can figure out a way to pay you out of the general fund. Its the states money, who cares :(

Here's more.

She has this guy's criminal investigation file in her possession...no mention of money in this story, but dang! don't this stink like you-know-what.

If ya don't watch out, she'll be running for governor of Wisconsin next!

Mass murderer Larry Casey, who shot four little girls and elderly woman in 1973, recently found a political ally in Hodge.

Two years ago Hodge came to Casey’s defense when he was caught in prison soliciting a revenge assassination against the Houston prosecutor and police officer in his case.

...

The judge ordered Hodge to return Casey’s file to the inspector general 13 months ago.

CBS 11 News recently learned it was never returned.

“She obtained the entire working file of the investigators. There’s no purpose in that. No legislative purpose that I can imagine,” said David Weeks, Walker County District Attorney.
First of all - why is it even possible for a guy convicted of doing what Casey did to get out of prison at all, much less with improper influence? There's a greater corruption here than that which Hodge is accused of.

Our country incarcerates more of it's population than nearly any other in the world - even so we need more prison space if it's even possible that people like these get out one day.

I am thinking Casey should not be in jail either. He should be in an unmarked grave somewhere!

Isn't she the same one who is upset at the naming of hurricanes? All hurricanes are named caucasian names.

I heard that but can't remember if it was her or not or even if it was true. Might have been a joke.

The Casey story doesn't mention parole, don't think it's a question of him getting out so much as getting into more trouble on the conspiracy to murder the Houston ADA.

Why isn't he on death row is a whole nuther question, but if ya can't make it to death row in Texas, you can't make it anywhere! ;)

Oh by the way- Since this is my real name and I do work for the State what do you want to bet I'll be looking for a job soon. Any lawyers here want to represent me in a civil suit?
