I just painted the cowling with phantom black OEM airisol paint turned out really well for spary out of a Can. I did a primer coat with the OEM primer to andI also did a OEM CLEAR COAT. It turned out good but I was wondering how long does it take to fully dry Ive been afraid to touch it. Its been about a day. Also How long for the whole lower unit I wanna use the boat soon. 2011 017.jpg2011 030.jpg2011 024.jpg2011 027.jpg2011 026.jpg

Depends, some people wait 24 hours to dry others it takes a week (number of coats, sanding, primer, etc). I would say atleast 48 hrs for the cowling, and then go to a spot where it is less likely to be seen and press with your finger to see if you leave a print. I would say atleast a week for the lower unit from my experience. Remember you don't want to spend all the money, take her out too early and come out with a spotted looking lower unit, rather than a solid black.

Just as and FYI Rustoleum Professional Premium Oil Based Gloss Black comes in a can. Harbor Freight Sells a Cheap HVLP Spray gun for $20 bucks. You can buy Valspar Oil Based Paint Hardener for $15 bucks and it will treat a Gallon of paint. Thin the Rustoleum 30% with Acetone and then add the appropriate amount of Hardener for the amount of paint you will shoot and go to it. You WON'T believe the results. Paint dries hard as a rock. Shines like the sun. NO Clear coat required. Cheap investment.
