i have a 1995 5.7/350 merc engine. when the boat went in the water for the first time and at t he end of the season engine would not turn over . found water in left side bank . i drained the l/side drain on the riser. engine would turn over and run with no issues. . it was docked all season in the water with no starting issues oil was a light brown color with no discoloration in the valve covers. Is water backing up into the risors or do i have other issues thanks

leakdown test will tell you if engine side
runiing the motor will tell you manifold side

I would start simple. Look at your exhaust flappers and make sure they are good first. If they are move forward but I suspect this is your problem if it only happened the first launch.

Check the flappers first as said. If that is intact, it's most likely a rider or manifold problem.

You posted you found water in the bank?

You mean cylinders? If yes how did draining the manifold get the water out of the cylinders?

Anyway pull the riser on that side. The riser blocked up, bad?

Look down the tube You may or may not have flappers.

One break off and block the exhaust?

When were the the risers changed last?

Woa just went back your in conn.?

Freekin real real cold in conn.

You didn't bye chance crack the block, cause it froze the block?

Or the manifold cracked? Cause it froze.

About the oil, no water in it?

Could of burned off after you got it started, how i don't know with water in the cylinders?

Unless you pulled the spark plugs and got it out that way.

After all is said and done, do a compression check.

Or do it first. May tell you alot or nothing. But it would be the first thing i do.
