Does anyone know if there are videos available for repairing and/or maintaining small outboard engines? I've been looking for a vocational training school or the like in my area for a small engine course, but no luck. I'd like to be able to take a small outboard and break it down and put it back together again. Any help would be appreciated.

Go for it. Get yourself a small, inexpensive outboard and a manual and tear into it. This'll show ya kinda how they work.

I don't know of any vidios. But there are tons of books, manuals available That cover everything from cars and trucks to motor cycles, weed-wackers and outboards. There is no shortage of small outboards that need fixing. Many older models can be had fairly inexpencive, maybe free to fifty bucks. Grab up an old motor, a manual and some spare time. Sorta start your own school. You'll never be late for class. Don't even worry about the condition of your first subject. Just take it appart to see what makes it tick. Pretty soon you'll get the hang of it. If your intrested in a career in the business, you might want to take a more serious approch.

most the videos dont show real world stuff like how to heat a bolt or use an impact driver and other things us folks in the salt pond get to play with. however they can show you how things are assembled and with patience and common sense its easier. like the trick of cracking the t-stat housings on a crossflow jonny rude rather than breaking off the bolt. housing assy is 30 bucks or so, takes ten min to burn it off or crack it with a chiesel. takes most the day to remove the lower cowl to drill a broken bolt. things like that are never in the video. I have thought about making a few myself for sale. if I can figgue out how to keep the internet thieves from stealing my profits I will do it.
