I already have the volvo engine and sterndrive manuals for my 93 501B DP290, but they're the actual mechanic manuals from Volvo, and are not very descriptive. I have one for my OMC that I paid BIG bucks for, but it was fantansic when it came to directions and pictures, unlike these Volvo's. Can anyone suggest, or lead me too the best choice for the do it yourselfers for my unit. Thanks:)

Re: repair manuals

Pre 93 Volvo manuals are NOT a DIY manual by any stretch of the imagination. They were printed for the Volvo techs and assumed you went to all the tech schools. 94 and newer are a LOT better.
I find a lot of there info lacking at times, and I AM a Volvo tech.
Just so you know, the after market manuals (Seloc and Clymers) give less info than the Volvo manuals.

Re: repair manuals

I am with DonS. some of the 90's and earlier manuals were like 10 pages long :) :) . most of the procedures really did not change and the 95 and up books are a bit better.
what procedures are you needing info on ?

Re: repair manuals

I was looking for some basic stuff, like just removing the outdrive, but even though my manuals have the assembly breakdown, I would really like to have it in writing too as to what to do in what order, you know what I mean. So I get the feeling that any such manual doesn't exist then?
