Repair?

I just picked up a 16ft boat and thanks to the previous owner
neglecting a roller on the trailer there is a spot on the hull that is slightly
soft (about the size of the quarter). I would like to fix this spot just to be
safe. I read around here last night and there was a lot of good information. Just not sure the best way to fix this spot as it is not a hole just a spot where i would like to recover to make sure it doesn't become a hole or leak. I have not worked with fiberglass before so the simplest way would be appreciated.

Thanks

Re: Repair?

Welcome to iboats!!

A spot the size of a quarter slightly soft??? There should be a reason for the softness.

You can cut out the small spot and repair it the proper way from BOTH sides. Are you sure not water has leaked into it?

Marine tex works great on small spots. If you can post a few pictures of what you are talking about.

Re: Repair?

The spot is there because the boat sat on a metal piece where the roller
on the trailer used to be. The boat has not been in the water for 2 years and has just sat. I jacked the boat up and put a brace across there so it is not sitting on that spot anymore. I really just want to fix the spot so to be sure it will not leak or develope a hole there. I will be getting a new roller ASAP for the trailer to fix that problem.
I will try to get a couple pics but it may take me a couple days before I can jack it back up again.

Thanks
