Repairing/replacing 94 caravell floor

I am attempting to replace the floor in my caravell because of a soft spot. I am having trouble with the sides. There is a piece on both sides where the floor meets the side and it's like a 3x3 piece of wood my question is how to remove it. Not sure if it's glued to boat or screwed Also I think I will have to remove the top cap because the front half from dash forward is all one piece. And suggestion on removing the top cap.
