I have a new boat some may have seen the photos or read my posts about it. I am happy with it. But have found an issue. 8 out of 12 of the rod holders mounting screws ( its about 16 screw holes) were installed in to small of pre drilled holes and small cracks have occured. There all over the side rails front to rear. I mentioned 8 of the holders have it. The issues here for me stem from to much knowledge of what could go wrong with a repair. Paint peeling not matching combine that with half of them are in areas with cross hatched raised grip in the fiberglass which will be hard to match or deal with. The cracks are pretty minor. I could live with it pull all of them myself and apply thin coat of sealer which would never be of much concern. This might look better 10 years from now than having spot painted repairs all over my boat. Ill elaborate in my own words to the rep at Well craft. I could have bought a brand new Corvette loaded to the gills for what I paid for this boat and had some change left over . If I had that car in the shop for spot painting on every panel I would probably demand they give me a new car. On a lot of aspects its trivial but the fact that it covers the entire boat side rails front to back its really not a minor deal.

However I dont know if having it fixed and painted is better than dealing with it. As my boating season wraps up its time to set up the repairs or cover it up for the winter and live with it. Any thoughts?

Last time I mounted pole holders on the side rail, I had aluminum 1/2" overlays that I attached, then I drilled and mounted the pole holders, I sold that boat with the pole holders and aluminum panel on it and never looked back. I ran into the guy that bought the boat from me last weekend on the boat ramp and he is still happier than heck with his purchase.
