I searched and could not find the answer to my question. There are many lakes that will not permit a boat with a 2 stroke engine larger than 5 or 7 horsepower. I have a 1995 Force 70. It is a three cylinder two stroke engine. Can the power head be replaced with a three cylinder four stroke keeping the lower drive unit? I know, its like trying to stick a Chevy Corvette engine into a Ford Mustang but I think it might be less expensive.

pretty sure it wont work. The only chance you have is if merc will work and I doubt it. You need the thing to mount up to the kingpin and seal up so exhaust dont get in. Also you will need the powerhead to be the correct diameter with the same amount of splines and the correct height. It can probably be done and look real ugly doing it. Then there is the issue of getting the control cables to work with it.

Sell your 1995 Force 70 outboard, take the money and buy a 4 stroke. LOL
