replace 82 115 w 96 150 OP

I think I will leave this job to the professionals but should I expect it to be a big job switching from my 82 115 to a 96 150 ocean pro.Will they want to change my controls as well.The 96 motor comes with side console controls and I am putting it on a center console,hoping I can use the current controls on the center console already.Charlie

crazy charlie...I believe you can buy an adapter harness to make your control box work.I'd at least put in new throttle/shift cables.<br /> BUT...<br /> Your newer motor needs more precise shift control than your 1982 control has (being that old). I would replace it to prevent gearcase/shift problems and damage.<br />DHP
