I have a Bravo 2 Drive with a cracked lower unit. I have come across several Bravo 1, No Bravo.
Is it possible to replace the B2 w a Bravo 1 lower unit using the Bravo 2 Upper?

Yes but what prop size are u running bravo 2 allows for huge prop diameters for certain applications Like house and workboats

Bravo 1 is designed for higher performance and speed

Bravo 2 is designed for moving larger hulls at lower speeds. More for commercial applications like barges and larger displacement style hulls with single sterndrive in the 27-30 foot cabin cruiser range.

You can absolutely use a bravo 1 in place of a bravo 2 but you may not get the same performance with it. As stated the bravo 2 can swing a much larger diameter prop than a bravo 1

Dang, did not interpret that part. As dodge says, older gen bravo drives went through some internal passage/alignment changes.

I read it as swapping an entire drive

In any case OP should stick with a bravo 2. Yeah, hard to find used lowers but you can still get oem

Thanks for all the input. The boat is a 99 Sea Ray 260 Sundancer, I believe to be 6,400 pounds dry. Yes is swings a 19 inch prop. Maneuvers very well at the dock. Sounds like I should stick with a Bravo 2.... unless the difference considering the application is minimal

All Bravo's use the same upper housings so long as they are not the older ones. You can change your B2 to a B3 and will like docking even more. With counter rotating props there is next to no side tracking when going in reverse.

I use a B3 on my 10K cruiser

The plus side of a B2 is less corrosion and prop seal leak chances. The B3 having stainless props can cause more corrosion for a boat left in the water and the Mercathode needs to be working correctly

The chances of leaking prop shaft seals is greater with B3 due design, but its just the chance of
