Serial num. OF28921 1993
4 barrel Carburator
counter balanc shaft.
vortex
ordered a replacment distributor because old one had some slack and may have been causing some timing issues/ backfiring.
received it but its different from original one and wont work with this module i belive.
no fire.
I dont have the part num. St the moment but the pick up sensor inside is different.
i believe the module and a new adapter harrness is need to work with this system now.
anyone have any input on this and can point me to the right module and harness if this is correct?

being a 1993, your motor is not a vortec headed motor unless someone changed the heads.

new sensor should have 3 wires, the third wire is ground

backfiring may be a lean sneeze, which is fuel system.

Ayuh,...... Agreed,..... but the valve covers that say "Vortec" came out years before the Vortec heads did,......

TB-IV and TB-V distributors are exactly the same. The only difference between TB-IV and TB-V is the module. EVERYTHING else is the same. And they fit into both non-vortec and vortec intake manifolds.

New sensors have a ground wire, and as you can't buy TB-IV modules anymore, a new one will be a TB-V. If you ordered a TB-V module for your TB-IV system, you are going to have a problem hooking it up. To get the right parts, you should order according to the super-session part numbers.

The original number for the TB-IV module was -815361T1, which is now (TB-V) -15247T02, which includes the necessary wiring harness....
