Hey guys

I hit a rock today and bent my prop and lower shaft. I see the shafts are available all over. How hard is the replacement of it though? Something a reasonably mechanical person could do on their own?

I posted this on here before and was told it is a "king cobra" but I had it serviced this week and was told it only a Cobra

Also since I am buying a prop, what would be ideal for my boat. Its a 1990 25' Larson Senza with a 460. It has trouble getting on plane when everyone is on board. I plan on adding trim tabs for next season.

Re: Replace Lower Shaft Procedure OMC Cobra

You should try and get a manual for that drive. If it's a 460 then it's 87-89. OMC did call that one a King Cobra but not to be confused with the later KC's with a cone clutch. Yours is still a dog clutch (tell from the flat top) but has a bigger gearcase (lower) than the regular Cobra (holds almost twice as much gear lube) Need to let us know what size prop is currently on there and what kind of RPM's are you pulling at WOT. Post the engine model # or drive ,odel # and we can tell the year (unless you already know)
