engine is a 1997 5.7 350ci alpha drive. my power steering pulling started wobbling around before finally throwing the belt.... after inspection seems i have the old school plastic pulley which evidently is no longer avail. after some digging i found this part number 57-861758A 1. is this my only option? its a belt/pulley kit. the pulley is bigger than the old one so a slightly larger and wider belt is used.. i was hoping to replace with same stuff so i can use old belt as a spare, and pick up the items locally. if this is my only option , wont the wider belt cause an issue with the other pullies? the alt, crank, water ?? i would appreciate some advice so i can put my order in. thanks!

Re: replace power steering pulley

Is the pulley flexing or is the shaft of the pump wobbling to. If the bearings in the pump are no good then changing the pulley and belt isn't going to do much.

If the pulley failed, then you need the newer (larger diameter) metal pulley. The belt is longer, but not wider. It still has to fit the rest of the pulleys. There are no metal pulleys the same diameter as the plastic one.

There are different kits. Find that Parts Bulletin 98-1. I'd think you want the same as mine, if you don't have closed cooling: 57-861758A 1

I had got mine from ebay nib for around $50. I see they are listed for a bit more now.

The question is, is the shaft also moving the same 1/4"

Here is a link to that parts bulletin John mentioned
