I was looking into replace my distributor. It has lots of corrosion and nicks... its a 2.3l inline ford. Is it the same as a automotive? Same question for the points.

Also, it appears my exhaust hose (looks like 3", from the hull to the lower unit) is worn out and has cracks and holes in it. Can I get this hose at a local hardware or automotive store? Does it have to be anything special? No boat stores locally. Is it hard to change?

Appreciate the help. This is my first boat to own and trying to properly maintain it.

Re: replace this winter?

Nothing electrical on your boat(starter, alternator, distributor) can be replaced with an automotive part. Marine components are ignition protected(SAE J1171) to prevent your boat from exploding due to fuel vapors that may linger in the closed bilge and engine compartment. Marine grade points are constructed of materials better suited to the harsh(damp) marine environment. I believe you are refering to the bellows, which should be replaced with the proper original equipment or aftermarket part. All of these items are available online. I don't own a Cobra, so I can't adddress the difficulty issue. Get a service manual before you do anything. At the very least you will be able to decide for you are able to do yourself.
