Hey all,

just replaced the 305 with a 350 in my ciera. Everything went smoothly for the most part. I went to start it and the only way it runs is if I pour some fuel in the carb. It ran for a while like this, but I had to keep revving it. Now it just dies after the fuel in carb is burned up. I did replace water/fuel separator filter.. do you guys think this is a fuel pump issue? The fuel pump worked fine on the 305.

thanks

2 obvious things did you put the fuel pump rod in for the fuel pump and are the lines hooked up correct ?

Yup I think the carb is boned. I pulled the internal filter and it was full of settlement, I don't know if it ever had been changed. When the fuel dried up there was powder and grit outside of the filter. I think the jets are clogged. I bypassed the internal filter and put a clear filter on so I verified the pump is working and delivering fuel to the carb.. New carb will be here Wednesday, hopefully thats is what it is..

Ok replaced carb same problem.. Changed water fuel seperator and fuel filter - twice. Still wont rev up sounds like it does not get enough gas, longest I had it running was for maybe 3 minutes, then it died.... starts idles a bit and when i go to gas it, it dies, if i bring it back to idle it quick enough it might stay running.

Here is the weird thing. I know there is old fuel in that tank, but I saw the old engine run on that fuel and rev just fine, that's why I was inclined to think that bad fuel isn't it... thoughts?

The bad fuel inside there is horrible. Don’t let it come in contact with anything inside the carb or your going to have huge issues. Old fuel will turn to oil over time and smell like terpintine. There’s a fix but I would avoid all that my simply using fresh gas no matter what.
