I recently had a rectifier go bad on me, at the same time my tach went out. I replaced the rectifier and the charging system is working now, but still no tach. Is it possible it fried the tach?

Check the voltage at the gray tach wire. It should be 9, or 10 volts.

If I dont get any volatage where to check next? The rectifier passed the test procedure, why the heck won't the tach work? I got 0 volts on the grey wire....

0 voltage mean's something is wrong on the charging system. Hook an amp meter in series with the red wire from rectifier to starter solinoid. Easier, hook volt meter across battery. Does voltage climp with increase in rpm? Should hit 13-14 volts.

Yes the voltage does increase with RPM's, I tried the test again, and I got 10 volts at the blue wires, but nothing at the gray, is it possible its a fried tach?

Did you check the gray wire to ground with a volt meter. Without voltage, no tach is going to work.

Where are you checking the grey wire's voltage? If you are getting zero volts at the tach's end of the wire, check where the grey wire connects to the wiring terminal strip on the engine.

Is it connected to the correct terminal? (yellow-grey wire coming from stator)
Are you still getting zero volts here?
(This may be obvious, but the engine must be running to measure any voltage on this wire).

Make sure all connections are clean (shiny metal) and tight. This includes ground wires.
