Replaced some head bolts, gotta question

I replaced 5 head bolts on the port side cylinders. 3 of them were for one cylinder, 2 for the other.
My question is, should I put a anti-seize lubricant on them? I have some in a silver tube. Or should
I just leave them torqued down as much as I could get them? I figure that's one of the hottest parts
of the engine so maybe the anti-seize stuff would counteract that and my torque power. I think the
bolts are brass. They came from a reputable marine store.

TIA!

No anti seize ever.
It causes dissimilar metal electrolysis, and you might never get them back off.
Use Permatex aviation Form-a-gasket in the round bottle. Coat the threads.

I am wondering about the "brass" bolts. Should be SS. Torque to proper spec, not to "as much as I could get them". If it is the 130 looper in your sign off line, it should be about 18 ft-lbs.

Thanks much for the info!!! Glad I didn't assume it was okay and put it on. Whew!! Where can I get the Permatex stuff? West Marine is the major marine store here and their website doesn't list it. If I have to order it via internet, is it safe to go ahead and run my engine without it until I get it in? As for the brass vs. SS, the original bolts that I just replaced were the same material, and the engine is 12 years old. However, the engine has only been used in marine environments for the past 8 years. The threaded parts of the bolt were fine, it was the heads that were rusted, and only 5 out of like 32 (8 per cylinder I think x 4 cylinders). All of the bolt heads were/are painted. Should I paint the new ones too? FWIW, I said they were brass because of their gold-ish color. But they could certainly be some other marine-worthy material. I could take a picture and post it if necessary.

Again, thanks for the quick reply that kept me from making a HUGE mistake!

I have a silver tube of Permatex Anti-seize lubricant, prevents: seizing, galling, corrosion.

Is that safe to use? Or, can I just leave the bolts uncoated?
