Replaced water pump on 87-90hp rude drive shaft not centered in houseing PICTURES ADD

I just replaced the entire water pump with a new sierra kit housing, impeller, ect. I did not look at the old one when I took it off. While installing this one the drive shaft is rubbing on one side of the top of the housing.
This does not look normal to me!!
Will the shaft be centered after its joined with the powerhead??
Or do I have something enlse to worry about??
Please help.

In this pic, #58 has some tabs that have to fit in the housing cover #65 correctly. Lubricate the impeller with dish soap and twist into #48. The impeller will be slightly off center when connected to the drive shaft. I hope this has answered your questions.
