Hi, Bill here, new rectifier just arrived good price from iboats and going to replace the old one which I believe to be bad.. My question is I read the directions that came with the new one it is pretty straight forward disconnect battery , remove flywheel remove wires and replace with new rectifier. It say`s to replace ground strap with the new one but, i do not have a ground strap on my old one.. the wires are the same their are 5 total two yellow one with a gray stripe, one solid yellow, one solid gray one solid red and one solid purple all go to the terminal bar on the starboard side of the engine and are matched accordingly with the colors from what I believe to be the stator and the ign.. I do not see the "ground strap" mentioned in the directions?? I am pretty sure it is an exact replacement as I removed the flywheel to get the part # to order new one which is a direct replacement I have not taken the old one off yet just going to verify wires once again but their is one bolt missing on the originalpart?( I bought it used) as a hold down for the rectifier I could easily make a ground strap but where would it go ?? just don`t want to burn out new one maybe that is why the old one is shot?? any advice or clarification would help Thanks, Bill
