Hi all, I am looking to replace the 65amp alternator on my Volvo Penta 5.0gi PWTR.
I don't have a a shop near me that I would feel confident rebuilding a marine alternator.

I was looking for some opinions on 3rd Party replacement options. Arco and DB Electrical come up a lot. Any one have experience with these brands? Or any other suggestions

eventful, depending what is wrong with it or even how handy you are, you could rebuild it yourself. They make alternator rebuild kits relatively cheap with bearings, brushes, brush holders, diode packs, regulators and even armature slip rings as well. If your field windings are good, and most are, you can rebuilt it yourself if you are handy. I have actually done that myself and it really isn't much to it... .. JMHO!

I just got a DB electrical for my 4.3 and its fine. No issues at all, replacement was easy. The connections were a bit tricky (not labeled as clear as the oem) but I called their support and they were very helpful. Wiring key in a previous post of mine if you need it, look it up.
