Replacement depth finder transducer?

Hi,

I recently broke the transducer for the depth finder on our boat. The brand on the gauge is "Impulse". The transducer was mounted on the stern. Service records for the boat show it was installed in 1990. Where can I get a replacement? Can I use a new transducer with an old gauge? (Sorry--I know nothing of this particular tech!)

Advice appreciated,
Romeyn

Even if you could find a new transducer you would be better off just getting an entire new unit

Perhaps, but the existing gauge is part of the dash. It'd be nice to re-use it! Though I suppose I might find something with the same (or larger) hole requirement.

Most eletronics don't age well in a marine environment, having the gauge work after 25 years is pushing it past its normal life expectancy. You could replace the transducer today and the gauge could fail next week. You can typically find something very close to what was there and it will probably work much better
