replacement of kill switch

My first outboard, mariner 20hp #9459695 manufactured 1987 in Belgium. I cant get at the kill switch. Taken off rubber grip and removed screw but are unable to go any further. Have bought manual on line plus library book and no where is mentioned the tiller assembly apart from wireing diagrams. I can only assume it is too easy to worry about. Any help would be appreciated. gil

Need to look at the drawing. I think the drawing for your 87 20hp two cyl is similar to mercury sn 9507389. boats dot net will show the drawing. Apologies to Iboats I dont know where to look on Iboats.
