I have a 1988 Sea Ray 300 SD with twin 5.7L i/o. The power steering system has only 1 pump on the starboard engine which went bad. I have purchased a replacement pump which I'm sure will fit, but I have a couple of more questions. First, what kind of fluid should I be using? I believe they used ATF from the factory, but I was wondering if 5w non detergent oil would work also. How much fluid does the system hold? I assume it's empty now. Finally, is there a specific procedure I should use to fill the system after installing the new ps pump? Thanks in advance.

Re: Replacement of Power Steering Pump

Any GM rated power steering fluid will work including ATF
