Planning my next boating project
My Sea Ray is a 21 ft 84 walk around fisherman model
Eliments are taking it's toll on wood.
Dash area I replaced wood and purchased outdoor vinyl at a frabric shop. Used old vinyl and tufting and covered with new vinyl. Came out o.K.
Set up for fishing therefore is lot's of fiberglass. Wood areas along the gunel and rear need replacing.
Do not know what the material is called but back then Sea Ray used a material that looked like teak
but some sort of vineer .
Looked worn years ago and purchased a stain. Would not dry and because of vineer had too purchase a stain with
a jel .Worked fine. Used the stain as a paint and it covered fine.
Using present wood as a form what type of sheets of wood should I purchase and ideas of finished look.
Or just consider many coats of stain lightly sanded over and over and add clear
Want a nice teak looking finish, or what other advice can you guys offer too achive a clean finished look

thanks

It sounds like your not referring to teak trim, but a plywood panel with a plastic veneer? If it were me, I would purchase a mahogany or teak plywood (they can either be bought this way or laminated from a real wood veneer) and then cut them to size/shape. Seal it on all sides and ends with a bunch of coats of epoxy. Once dried, I would put on a lot of varnish coats. Matte, satin or gloss is up to you.
