2005 4.3L MPI Mercruiser needs a new IACV.

Does anyone know what the replacement part number is, and is there a cheaper automotive replacement part.

DO you mean your IAC. The Idle Air Control? Are you certain it is failed? There are tests to be sure.
If it is bad, sure change it, but use original equipment.
Cars are different so no you can't use Chevy parts, and aftermarket is not available, at least not any that I find. Fuel injection stuff needs to be perfect to work and last. Reverse engineered copies rarely are. In the IBOATS store the IACs listed only go up to the 2001 model year, and they do have aftermarket ones listed. I work in the car repair biz and I've never had any good luck with aftermarket fuel injection stuff.
I'd bet that if you find it aftermarket it doesn't last, or worse doesn't work right. Fuel injection is not a good place to cost cut. Just shop hard for the correct part. Post up your engine serial number, maybe someone will know more than I.
And good luck I hope you solve you issue.

More internet research has turned up a auto zone part #TV281 that might work.
At $51 (half the price of OEM) its worth a try.

I will pick one up and post the results for others that might have the same issues as i..

Just installed the auto zone replacement and it works perfectly!
Hopefully it will last as long as the OEM.

Should... IAC's are actually pretty simple. Sometimes, just pulling them out and cleaning the pintle seat in the throttle body fixes a host of idle problems. (Dodge was famous for that one) There was even a blog point where Merc used Ford IAC motors on the GM engines. Was a wiring harness issue, 3 wires vs 4 wires and the Ford ones worked just fine. If the bolt holes and geometry is the same and electronics match, should be OK.

Only thing with the "after market Auto Zone stuff" is that I have had a failure rate of about 3 to 1 compared to OEM stuff.
