Hi, I'm looking for replacement SS staples to be able to install a factory replacement gasket on this motor's cover. I'd appreciate any sources for them and installation techniques or if there is a substitute for this gasket such as a crimp-on automotive type gasket that is used with good results. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide and to iboats for providing these great forums. Regards, John

Not sure what size you need but any big box store has them. i.e. Lowes or Home Depot. Monel is even better than stainless but cost more.

Fuel line sliced down the middle works fine and then a bit of adhesive inside and it works great. Try a small piece for fit. Those staples are a "specialty item and I doubt you will find any long enough or a gun big enough to set them.

I reused my old ones. Drilled all new holes with a tiny drill bit. Hand fit each one. Nearly half of them broke, but those which did not are enough to hold that seal in place.
