Replacement Starter

Can Anyone tell me where to find out what starter my 1983 Mercruiser 185R V6 takes? It appears the previous owner had an automotive starter and I want to replace it with a marine starter but can't seem to find the part number. The engine is the 3.8L 229ci version NOT the 4.3L Thanks!

My NAPA book calls for an 18-5900 for a Recon. $205.00 list/ $126.49 jobber,+ a 18-5911 New replacement, $250.05 list/ $155.82 jobber.....<br /><br />It's a Chevy pattern straight accross bolts.....
