i was able to find a replacement bow platform for my bayliner rendevous & bayliner is pretty proud of it ( $1,662 ) needless to say im gonna build my own. figured wood would be the cheapest and easiest. was planning on a pattern similar to the wooden swim platforms you would see on the back of the boat. the width is approx 4' in the front, 3' in the rear and 2 feet deep. want to keep the wood finish ( lots of spar varnish ) because matching the topside paint would be too tough. my question is what kind of woood should i be looking at? need both strength and beauty.
