Replacement Warning Horn

I will like to install a warning horn on my engine, I currently monitor my engine in a way I happy with 2 independent senders and gauges. I never trusted the Horn 100 percent since it can fail or in some cases not work at all.
Someone pointed out whilst my current set-up is good, as an additional layer of protection I should install a horn and attach it the OEM senders (which I have but not connected) in this way I have something audible just in case I am not paying attention.
In my opinion its a very good point, so now I will like to implement it, however I was wondering if I can use something other than the OEM expensive horn since its use as second fiddle in this equation? or should I just install the OEM version?

Re: Replacement Warning Horn

Due to my hearing, I often thought about a horn from a motorcycle. Some of those are small, and would be easy to install out of sight, and still be loud enough.

You can install any low amperage signal device between the control and the temperature switch.

Starting in 1989, the OEM horns had a test signal that sounded on start-up automatically to let you know that the horn was fuctional.

You can use a horn as a warning device and wire it so that it can also be used as a signal horn.

The typical wiring for the OEM horn is as shown here: http://www.maxrules.com/graphics/omc_pics/REMCONTBOX.jpg

The horn shown here is less than three amps http://www.iboats.com/AFI_Mini_Blas...88577270--**********.644246800--view_id.38346
