I have a 1989 16' aluminum boat that i want to replace the wooden floor on. The floor now is factory plywood covered in some type of cloth but is getting very soft. The floor goes under the benches and storage areas. I need to know how to remove these seats and storage areas so i can replace the entire floor. The seats are held on with screws and then riveted up the side of the boat. Do i have to drill out these rivets and then relpace with new ones or is there an easier method. Any ideas will be greatly appreciated.

If you need to pull the seats you want to drill out the rivets and when ready replace with aluminum blind rivets. This is the easy way to do it as long as the rivets are above the waterline.

There are also 'pop' rivets that are closed on the ends.. http://www.emhart.com/products/pop/closed.asp

just don't mix steel or stainless with that aluminum because it will corrode over time. Even seemingly inert stainless will interact with other metals over time.
