Re: replacing alternator

I'd replace it with the same as you have.Just be sure it is a marine unit.Maybe a local shop can rebuild it for you.

DHP

Re: replacing alternator

It MUST ABSOLUTELY be a marine alternator. DO NOT try to replace it with an automotive type. Marine alternators (and other marine parts) are designed to reduce spark, which automotive parts are not.

In any case, Overton's should have a replacement. Look for some part numbers and/or amp rating on the old one.

Re: replacing alternator

62-65 amp in most cases you can use up to 70 amp
that will bolt up if you have a nando( ??) you can replace it with a delco but the main thing
it must be for MARINE USE !

here's where I bought mine a couple years ago,
haven't had any problems with it although you may want to paint the outside of it when you get it otherwise it'll look like crap after 1 season.

I have a model 233 merc with the 351.

delco 10si 2 inch foot
