The victim: 1990 200ETXD. The problem: Broken shift rod. 14 years of saltwater use finally did in my shift rod. The bolts holding the head were frozen but I finally got everything apart by destroying the exhaust guide manifold with a drill and chisel. The control arm is removed, but the lower housing is still attached to the arm. A corroded circlip is still attached to the bottom of the housing. Can I just grind off the clip and push the arm out of the housing, or is it pressed in. Also, in making a list of the parts I need, is there any kind of gasket sealer I should use with the new gaskets?

no need to remove the lower mount yoke. but you will have to remove the upper mounts and mount brackets. then remove the powerhead adapter. the adapter kit is about 250. you will find most fasteners wont move. oxy acetylene is imperative.

Re: Replacing control arm & shift rod

Since the control arm was crap anyways, I cut the top horizontal arm off the vertical rod. I would like to reuse the lower "yoke", but can't get the shaft out of it. All the upper mounts and brackets have been removed. Would it be easier just to buy a new yoke for $55?
