Replacing corrugated plastic crankcase vent hose 5.7 EFI

I am going to replace the corrugated plastic crankcase vent hoses from the valve covers to the flame arrester since they do not seal properly on the fittings and the oil eventually accumulates on the valve covers.

I know that it must be oil resistant but is there any other specs the hose should meet? Can 1/2" rubber fuel hose be used?

Ayuh,... Use whatever ya want,.... They're just vents,....

depending on the size of the elbows, 1/2" or 5/8" heater hose works

I bought some hose at the auto parts store this afternoon that was specifically made for PCV applications. I didn't even know there was such a hose. I plan to install it tomorrow evening and use a zip tie at the elbow end. Not sure why Mercruiser used the corrugated hose other than it must have been inexpensive.

Same reason audi and Mercedes use it.....its about $.05 / foot (dirt cheap) and lasts past the warranty period
