Replacing deck on 18.5 lund tyee

My latest purchase is a 93 lund 1850 lund tyee.. my question is the thickness of the ply on the deck appears to be 1/2" (or 15/32") and was wondering is it too much weight to bump up to 3/4" ? I am not a small mariner and plan on catching many pounds of fish and was thinking 3/4 would be much sounder but perhaps Lund used 1/2" for a reason....thanks for the help.

im putting a fishing deck on my boat and im going to use 1/2 inch. but i only weigh about 130. im trying to keep weight to a minimum. if you have enough bracing i think 1/2 inch would be fine, but it would be the same to have less bracing with 3/4 inch as it would with 1/2 inch with more bracing.

I'll eventually be doing some casting decks on my jon boat and have pondered the same question. 3/4 sure is stronger, and since it's not being glassed in (just epoxied), the 1/2 is borderline too thin, without too cumbersome of a support structure (in my opinion). FYI, I read somewhere a good estimate of plywood weight (untreated), is 25 pounds per 1/4 inch 4x8 sheet.

if you use 1/2 inch (just fine) just make sure it is supported at the joints.and glassed...glass is really tough stuff. once glassed it will be the equivalent of 3/4 or better.
