Replacing Drain Tube

1972 Glastron V-163 Aqualift
I have a pressed in type transom drain tube that I think is leaking. I'm repainting the bottom paint soon and want to get the drain fixed first. What is the best method to re-seal it? Is it better to remove and replace it? If so how do they come out?

i have taken a dremel tool with a metal cutting bit, and just cut the rim off the pressed in fitting then knock them out. i prefer this type: http://www.iboats.com/Marine_Store/...-submit.y.4--submit.x.29--search_type.keyword
