Hi,
I have a 88 force 50 hp, I've been looking for a tutorial on switching out the lower unit seals, as there's some water in there. Does anybody have a walk through on how to replace? I saw the write up on the 4-cycle engine for the water pump, is it pretty similar?
Thanks, Adam

Re: Chrysler Lower unit Model 5551 need seals & Gaskets

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I recently replaced my lower unit propeller shaft?s seal using Frank?s suggestions w/o a puller, ?I thought I needed?. I have read that Chrysler?s 35 HP ? 55HP motors are basically the same in the same year models. All went well on my 1968?72 35 HP. There are attachments and info at the following address related to the job. Please post any additional questions if needed, "The Family will have some suggestions". My local Marina/Parts/Store had the parts from the model/year/hp info and I matched & measured the parts. There is possibly a diagram at the address below and at your marina's parts.

Good Luck!
