A recent post was inquiring about replacing the shaft on MK motors. In order to do so you must apply heat at the point where the shaft screws into the motor housing. Using a propane torch, carefully heat the area. This will release the bonding agent and will allow you to unscrew the shaft with a strap wrench or small pipe wrench. To install the new shaft, coat the threads with LocTite, or something similar and tighten with a strap wrench. The strap wrench is available at WalMart. Seal the shaft with a quality chalk. Take your time and apply several layers of chalk. That's all there is to it. Take notes of where the wires are connected to the hand control. You will also need to splice in additional lengths of wire if the new shaft is longer than the old one. It's all quite simple from this point on. DuPont
