replacing motor

I am looking at replacing my 1986 force 125 on a bayliner trophy with a saltwater motor . How can i tell what will fit with out having to replace all the cables and such. New around this forum any help will be appreciated

You should be able to replace it with any Force outboard, if the shift/throttle is flush mounted and the key is in the dash, I think just about any outboard will work with it. The only differences is the wiring (motor end) and most any marine shop should be able to convert that. if im gonna replace current motor i want to replace it with a salt water motor preferably 150 or 175 not to familar still doing some research

ryr28fan,<br /><br />If it were me, I would replace everything with the new engine. The Force engines of that vintage were kind of unique.<br /><br />Plus, that boat is now 18 years old. Those parts could probably use an upgrade.
